The Bihar cabinet on Tuesday approved Rs 465 crore from the state share for formation of a special purpose vehicle (SPV), “Bhagalpur Smart City Limited Company”, for development of Bhagalpur and the central government’s Smart City Mission.
Under the aforementioned proposal of the state urban development and housing department, the estimated cost of forming the SPV is about Rs 1,309.30 crore and the cabinet approved the state’s share for the same on Tuesday. A total of 18 agendas were approved by the state cabinet.
State disaster management department’s proposal to draw an advance of Rs 754 crore from contingency fund for flood relief operations was also approved by the state cabinet. Of this, Rs 250 crore is gratuitous relief (at Rs 3,000 per family) for flood-hit people in 15 districts of Bihar, while Rs 300 crore is for foodgrains , Rs 200 crore for agriculture input grant and Rs 4 crore for renovation of damaged houses, a press note by the cabinet department said.
