The next time your road is being dug up and you want to find out whether it is legal, all you need to do is visit the BBMP website and click on Road Cutting (multi agency) on the homepage (

The GIS powered application has all road cutting permissions availed superimposed on a base map of the city. Zoom onto your street and check if the road cutting work is listed. You will also get information on the agency carrying out the work and date of approval.
