21-km flyover in MMR to ease traffic congestion…

Share

The state government has envisaged an elevated corridor of 21 km—probably one of the longest ones in the world—in the Mumbai metropolitan region (MMR).

The flyover is considered as the first step towards building the multi-crore Mumbai-Nagpur super-highway that will start near Kalyan.

The flyover will ease congestion in the MMR.

The flyover will make travelling from Shil Phata to Kalyan, Dombivli, Bhiwandi, Ambernath and Mumbra faster. The state has also promised to invest Rs 4600 crore in road projects.

Water transport between Mumbai, Nerul and Mandwa near Alibaug has also got a shot in the arm. The state announced an allocation of another Rs 63 crore for Mandwa for the project. Maritime board and Cidco has started allied work at Ferry Wharf and Nerul. The facility will help people transport their vehicles on boats from one end to another.
