Conserving water bodies and involving people in construction of Rain Water Harvesting (RWH) were the only possible methods to overcome the acute water shortage that the city was facing and will face in the future as well.
For this, educating the people to take up water issue as a mass movement, apart from commitment from the government, was a must, felt the speakers at a panel discussion organised by the Press Club of Hyderabad in association with Walk-For-Water on the looming water crisis and drying up of water bodies.
The Political JAC chairman, Prof. Kodandaram, suggested that building permissions should not be extended without water connections and RWH structures. Political parties should come together to ensure this was followed strictly, as the problem was enormous. Colony associations should play an active role and the government should involve them.
